The Bearing was created in 2021 by a group of young Cameroonians, born out of NGANDIWEB during a time when the world was quiet, isolated, and searching for connection. As routines slowed and conversations moved online, many people needed a place to speak, write, and feel genuinely heard. We set out to build a platform that values intention over noise, depth over distraction, and meaning over metrics. The Bearing exists to give writers true ownership of their work, offer readers a calm and focused experience, and bring communities together around stories that still matter.
