Library Assistant II, Southeast CampusTitle: Library Assistant II, Southeast CampusPOSITION SUMMARYThis position supports basic library operations and assists library patrons with their research and general library needs.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssists students with their research projects, including being knowledgeable about databases, resources and basic information literacy components. Monitors the open computer lab. Coordinates interlibrary loans.

Assists in cataloging, purchasing, and processing. Represents the library in New Student Orientations and other campus functions. Performs activities related to the charging, discharging and late return of Library materials.

Manages circulation desk supplies. Calls patrons who have past due library materials. Directs users with reference and research questions to public services librarians when appropriate.

Assists with closing and opening procedures. Helps check in books and supplies pursuant to College's purchasing policy. Checks ownership on lists for potential purchases.

Assists with special projects and serves on committees as assigned. Assists in planning of Library initiatives and supports the mission of the Library and the College. Assists in stack inventory and management.

Participates in professional development activities. Assists the Access Center with testing as needed.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum of two years' customer service experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAssociate 's degree or higherTwo years' experience working in higher education settingMultilingual, preferably in Spanish and/or ArabicExperience with BannerKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESIntermediate to advanced computer skills. Aptitude for analyzing student questions and requests.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a varied community.
